PCB Revises Central Contracts, Players Face Financial Loss After Category Changes

Lahore — The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revised the central contracts for national players, increasing monthly retainers in the C and D categories. However, players who moved from Category A to Category B are facing significant financial losses.

According to PCB sources, players in Category C will now receive PKR 2.5 million per month, up from PKR 2 million. Similarly, Category D retainers have been raised from PKR 1.2 million to PKR 1.5 million.

In contrast, no increment has been made in Category B, where players continue to receive around PKR 4.5 million per month.

Previously, Category A cricketers were earning PKR 6.5 million monthly. Last year, stars like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were included in this group. With their shift to Category B, they are now losing at least PKR 2 million per month.

Sources further revealed that the PCB decided to abolish Category A this year, stating that no player met the criteria required for the top tiers.
