The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, set to be played in the UAE later this month. The selection committee revealed a balanced squad, combining the experience of senior players with the energy of young emerging stars.

According to officials, the team has been chosen with a clear focus on both batting depth and bowling variety, ensuring India heads into the tournament as one of the strongest contenders.

Key Highlights of the Squad

Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the side as captain, bringing his experience and leadership to the fore.

Shubman Gill has been retained as vice-captain, seen as the backbone of India’s top order.

Star batter Virat Kohli remains part of the squad, expected to play a crucial role in stabilizing the middle order.

On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will lead the pace attack, supported by Arshdeep Singh.

India has opted for a strong spin department with Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel.

Selectors’ Statement

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that the squad reflects India’s intent to field the best combination ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy next year.

“We have picked a side that gives us balance in all departments. Experience is important in tournaments like the Asia Cup, but we also want to provide opportunities to youngsters who have impressed in recent series,” he added.

Tournament Outlook

The Asia Cup 2025 will feature top Asian teams including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal, alongside hosts UAE. India will open their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan, a clash that already has fans across the globe buzzing with excitement.
