The Nebraska volleyball team will make its 2025 debut on Friday when it faces the Pittsburgh Panthers in the opening match of the AVCA First Serve from the Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Huskers enter the 2025 season as the No. 1 team in the country, according to the preseason AVCA pollwhile the Panthers enter Friday’s match ranked No. 3 in the nation.
Last season, Nebraska finished 33-3 and advanced to the NCAA Semifinals. The Huskers also won their 36th conference title and fifth Big Ten title with a 19-1 record in conference play. The team will also feature some fresh faces, as eight of the 17 players on the 2025 roster are newcomers.
Nebraska native Dani Busboom Kelly takes over the program after the retirement of former head coach John Cook. A national champion as a player and assistant coach at Nebraska, Busboom Kelly takes over after spending eight years in charge of the Louisville Cardinals. During her tenure, the Cardinals reached two NCAA Championship matches, three NCAA Semifinals, and won four ACC titles.
