Delaware field hockey players try to do an impression of their coach during Delaware Online Media Day.
When you see players from Delmar on one day and players from Archmere the next day, itโs a safe bet you have the entire state covered.
That was the case Aug. 6 and 7 as a combined 28 field hockey teams came to Delaware Online Football and Field Hockey Media Days. The downstate event was held at Woodbridge High School, followed by the upstate event at Abessinio Stadium the next day.
Players and coaches posed for portraits, answered entertaining questions and enjoyed free breakfast and lunch.
โItโs a really cool experience,โ Indian River field hockey player Reece Forrey said at Woodbridge. โIโve never done a media day or anything like that. Itโs really cool to get pictures.โ

Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists sponsored both events.
Carusoโs Pizza, which has locations in Georgetown and Selbyville,ย also sponsored the Woodbridge event and provided lunch.
Bachetti Bros. Meats, Market and Catering in Wilmington also sponsored the Abessinio Stadium event and provided lunch.
โItโs exciting for the kids,โ Sussex Central field hockey coach Megan Marvel said. โThey like pictures. Theyโre into social media. So for them to get that attention, I think itโs really great for them.โ
Smyrna, last yearโs DIAA Division I Field Hockey Tournament runner-up, was among the top teams represented. Coach Loveita Moffett and her daughter, Bree, arrived early at Abessinio Stadium to answer questions from reporter Yan Yan Li for a profile of perhaps the stateโs top returning player.
Loveita Moffett enjoyed an All-American career at Michigan, and Breeโs older sister, Dru, plays for the Wolverines now. But Bree has committed to play at Northwestern, Michiganโs Big Ten rival and a perennial national title contender.
Hundreds of photos were taken, and the playersโ looks ranged from fierce to bright smiles. It was a great way to catch up with everyone before the season begins.
