Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza continues. A devastating report reveals that during the nearly 23 months of Israeli aggression, on average, at least one Palestinian child has been killed every hour.
According to the global organization working for children’s rights and welfare, Save the Children, an average of at least one Palestinian child was killed every hour by Israeli forces over the 23-month war.
Figures from the Gaza government state that at least 20,000 children have been killed from October 2023 until now. Among the children killed, at least one thousand were under one year old, and nearly half of them were babies who were born during the current war and killed by Israeli soldiers.
Save the Children has described these figures as “shameful,” stating that the worst part is that organized attacks are being carried out on children’s homes, playgrounds, schools, and hospitals, and a famine is being deliberately imposed on the people of Gaza. Yet, the world is doing nothing to stop it.
On the other hand, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has appealed to the international community to take every possible step to stop the destruction in Gaza, where Israel has intensified its military operations for a complete takeover.
UNICEF says that nearly one million people are at severe risk from Israel’s plan for the forced displacement of people towards the Al-Mawasi camp near Khan Younis, designated as an Israeli “humanitarian zone.” Half of these displaced people are children.
A UNICEF spokesperson emphasized that we must remember that every second person in Gaza is a child, and life has become almost impossible for them.
The spokesperson stated that the area is unsafe for two reasons: first, it lacks the necessary infrastructure for Gaza’s entire population as the area is too small. Second, the bombing in the area continues; just four days ago, 8 children were killed while waiting for water.
