When I went to China, one thing truly surprised me. I noticed that almost everyone there takes a nap right after lunch. Curious, I asked my Chinese colleagues why they do this. Their answer was simple yet powerful:
“We wake up at 5 AM and work until 10 PM. Without this powerful nap after lunch, we wouldn’t be able to stay active and would collapse by evening.”
Hearing this, I decided to develop the same habit. Surprisingly, even after moving to Europe, I continued this practice. Now, every day after lunch, I take a nap in the lab. The results are incredible:
I remain energetic until 10 PM
My focus increases significantly
My productivity improves remarkably
Even my professor and lab mates often take naps in their offices.
The Situation in Pakistan is Different
Unfortunately, in Pakistan this culture doesn’t exist. At workplaces, if someone tries to nap, people usually see it as laziness or irresponsibility. As a result:
Work efficiency decreases
Focus breaks easily
Fatigue becomes evident by evening
The Lesson
Taking a nap is not a weakness, it’s a strength. A short but powerful nap can multiply your energy, sharpen your focus, and boost your productivity throughout the day.
